VAWA Funding / Implementation Plan

The Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) approved the FY 2017 – 2020 Implementation Plan (IP) for use effective June 26, 2017. OVW extended the use of State STOP Implementation Plans for a year based on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The current IP is effective through December 2021.

The IP must be submitted to OVW every four years. The IP demonstrates a comprehensive, coordinated plan reflecting the strengths and needs of the states in regards to use of STOP VAWA Formula Grant Funds.

The Utah Office for Victims of Crime (UOVC), VAWA Implementation Planning Subcommittee, along with representatives from under-served populations, population-specific organizations, the eight federally-recognized tribes and interested stakeholders that include law enforcement, prosecution, courts, and victim services are involved in the planning process and meet annually to discuss progress on statewide funding priorities and goals and objectives.

The UOVC and the VAWA Implementation Planning Subcommittee are currently developing the new FY 2022 – 2025 Implementation Plan for Utah. A draft copy of the plan will be released for public comment by December 2021 with a final plan submitted for OVWs approval in early 2022.
