The Utah Council on Victims of Crime


The Council is a bi-partisan body with representation from across the state acting as a voice to improve victims’ services and rights in Utah. The purpose of the Utah Council on Victims of Crime is to:

  1. Make recommendations to the Legislature, the governor, and the Judicial Council on the following:
    1. Enforcing existing rights of victims of crime;
    2. Enhancing rights of victims of crime;
    3. The role of victims of crime in the criminal judicial system;
    4. Victim restitution
    5. Educating and training criminal justice professionals on the rights of victims of crime; and
    6. Enhancing services to victims of crimes;
  2. Provide training on rights of victims of crime; and
  3. Establish a subcommittee to consider complaints not resolved by the Victims’ Rights Committees
  4. Advocate the adoption, repeal, or modification of laws or proposed legislation in the interest of victims of crime
