The Utah Council on Victims of Crime
The Council is a bi-partisan body with representation from across the state acting as a voice to improve victims’ services and rights in Utah. The purpose of the Utah Council on Victims of Crime is to:
- Make recommendations to the Legislature, the governor, and the Judicial Council on the following:
- Enforcing existing rights of victims of crime;
- Enhancing rights of victims of crime;
- The role of victims of crime in the criminal judicial system;
- Victim restitution
- Educating and training criminal justice professionals on the rights of victims of crime; and
- Enhancing services to victims of crimes;
- Provide training on rights of victims of crime; and
- Establish a subcommittee to consider complaints not resolved by the Victims’ Rights Committees
- Advocate the adoption, repeal, or modification of laws or proposed legislation in the interest of victims of crime
