Mental Health Providers
This page explains how mental health providers can submit billing to the Utah Office for Victims of Crime (UOVC) for eligible crime-related medical services.
Reminder: Providers must bill all available insurance or other payment sources before submitting claims to UOVC.
Payment Information
If the victim does not have insurance or another collateral payment source, UOVC may pay:
- The UOVC allowable rate for the type of mental health service provided.
If the victim has insurance or another collateral payment source, UOVC may pay:
- The patient responsibility amount according to the insurance agreement, up to the UOVC allowable rate for that service.
UOVC allowable rates vary depending on the type of mental health service provided. View the UOVC allowable rates and required documentation table.
Payment in Full Requirement
A mental health service provider who accepts payment from UOVC agrees to accept that payment as payment in full on behalf of the patient and may not attempt to collect additional payment from the patient.
Timely Filing
UOVC does not have a timely filing deadline for mental health service claims.
Mental Health Treatment Plans
Providers must use the appropriate treatment plan templates:
Include treatment plans with claims when required.
Submitting Billing for Payment Review
Make sure you have included the required documentation for the type of mental health service provided. Submitting complete documentation helps prevent delays or claim denials.
